BAB open for vacations
In August you'll find us in Barcelona

Hello! What's going on?
At BAB we are here all summer long. We like vacations and we think they are necessary, but we take turns so that there is always someone left to advance work and solve any incident. We are your technology partner and we like to be all year round.
Is there anything better than working in August without the hectic pace of the rest of the year?
We signed up. We're very happy to have this quiet interval to prepare improvements and new initiatives while you rest. We are aware that this month precedes September, when you come back full of energy to launch new projects.
If you share our summer mood and are not going far away, you may be wondering... What can I do in August?
Fortunately, everything and more. The times of heat and boredom, where even the pigeons left the city, are already part of the past...? that's why we want to share with you a series of recommendations so that this month of August it doesn't seem that time stops, on the contrary, you have to miss it to be able to do all that we propose.
What do you say we start with some outdoor activities to cool down a bit?
As every August we have the Festival Gandules at the Pati de les Dones of the CCCB that since 2003 projects free films every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 22.00. This year the program is dedicated to rebellious and dangerous women in the world of cinema.
If before going to the movies you want to have a snack in one of the authentic places that still remain in Barcelona, be sure to stop by the Bodega d'en Rafel next to the market of St. Antoni. A picturesque corner where it seems that time has stopped, even with the prices. Good vibes, good food and better service. Now in August there won't be many people and you won't be so hot.
If you have a little more budget and want exclusivity, you can go up to one of the privileged viewpoints of the city, the Fabra Observatory and make a dinner with stars. The views of the city are spectacular and the opportunity to take a look through the telescope of steps, well worth it. You will dine outdoors on the terrace and after dinner there will be a lecture of scientific dissemination. Can you ask for more?
If after dinner you feel like some music, as every August we have a varied offer. One more year a classic of the summer nights in Barcelona returns, the Festival MasiMas in venues and spaces as different as the Jamboree Jazz Club, Sala Tarantos, the Palau de la Música Catalana, the Moog and the Grec Festival.
Eclectic proposals ranging from the jazz-soul of Mario Bondi to the most classical piano of the young promising Bernat Català, through the jazz of Ivo Sans and Erik Vermeulen in an exclusive concert to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Thelonius Monk. Blues sounds from the guitar of King' Solomon Hicks and the flamenco counterpoint of Karime Amaya's niece. If you also like musicals, don't miss Jonathan Larson's Rent in concert, directed by Daniel Anglès.
But if what you really like is to shake your hips, you can not miss at the Moog the sets of Gabriel Berlanga aka Undo, creator of the Factor City label with its heterogeneous mixes or the French DJ and producer Joakim creator of the dance label Tigersushi.
Now that for good dancing, you've the third edition of the electronic music festival DGTL Barcelona on August 11 and 12 at the Forum. Imported from the Nederlands, it has nothing to envy to Sónar, and this year returns with a spectacular line up full of first class sets that will come from the decks of artists like Jeff Mills, Solomun, Maceo Plex, Joy Orbison, Tale Of Us, Derrick May or Marcel Dettmann.
Remember that every Sunday you can go with the whole family to make electronic picnics for all tastes and styles, at Brunch in The Park in the gardens of Joan Brossa de Montjuïc.
And if you can afford a weekend getaway from the city, take the opportunity to make a combo of beach and music.
In Calella de Palafrugell, at the Festival Jardins de Cap Roig you can enjoy the rhythms of New Orleans coming from the incombustible clarinet of Woody Allen, the melodic voice of the American singer-songwriter Norah Jones, remember the great classics of Pretenders with the unmistakable voice of Chrissie Hynde and the safe bet with the Indie rock of Wilco and the national Indie pop of ex-Pirata Iván Ferreiro and the Catalan Ramón Mirabet.
8 km from Figueres is the town of Peralada, where one more year is organized the Festival Internacional del Castell de Peralada, another classic of the month of August with a lineup full of dance, opera and music. You have the opportunity to listen to Bryan Ferry and his repertoire full of great classics of Roxy Music, the multifaceted Franco Batiato, the proposal of fusion of flameco and Latin music of the indestructible Diego El Cigala, or the portentous voice of the soprano Ainhoa Arteta.
The latest musical proposal in Girona is the Festival de Porta Ferrada in Sant Feliu de Guíxols. A unique opportunity to revisit the Jamaican classics of the legendary Birmingham band UB40, see live the virtuoso jazz pop pianist Jamie Cullum, or sing in chorus with Olvido Gara, the Alaska of Fangoria, who along with Rafa Sanchez, vocalist of the Union will review all their unmissable. More national pop with the good vibes that come out of the guitar of Pau Donés celebrating 20 years of Jarabe de Palo, or the great Robe Iniesta who will surely bring out the heavy artillery of Extremoduro.
If you still haven't had enough music when you come back from the weekend, remember that in the evenings you have Music in the Parks of Barcelona, with a series of free concerts of classical, jazz, blues, choral groups and music schools or orchestras.
But if there is something worth doing in summer is to visit museums and exhibitions in Barcelona without crowds or queues.
Let's start with an exhibition that you can not miss if you are among the legion of fans of the White Duke. David Bowie is installed at the Glories Design Museum, and you have to book a day and time to visit the retrospective of this pop icon. Now in August you have more opportunity to find free dates.
More affordable and very attractive proposals are the free visits on the first Sunday of each month, and every Sunday from 15h, in a selection of Museus de Barcelona.
Another must-see event of the summer in Barcelona is the popular Festa Major de Gràcia from August 15 to 21, which this year celebrates its bicentenary, with a series of commemorations and 20 streets decorated to mark the occasion.
At the end of the Festes de Gràcia begin the Festes de Sants, one more year the ones in charge of taking over from 20 to 28 to close the month of August in the liveliest way.
If after all that we have proposed, you still have time for reflection and reading, whether analog, digital or online, we will make the last recommendations to finish spicing up this month of August full of activities and experiences.
We started with a couple of books:
Zero To One. Peter Thiel (2015)
"The next Bill Gates will not start an operating system. The next Larry Page won't start a search engine. The next Mark Zuckerberg won't start a social network company. If you are copying these people, you are not learning from them.…"
The Innovators: How a Group of Inventors, Hackers, Geniuses. Walter Isaacson (2014)
"Explaining the fascinating story of the people who invented the computer and the Internet, "The Innovators" is destined to become the definitive history of the digital revolution and an indispensable guide to understanding how innovation really happens....."
And we end with a couple of technology, transformation and digital strategy blogs:
Denken Über The personal blog of Mariano Amartino, CEO of Hypertextual.
El blog de Marc Vidal The personal blog of this digital transformation and strategy consultant, technology investor, economic analyst in various media and business school professor.
